Greetings, Mantra Yoga community,
We wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past ten years of our Tuesday night Yin Yoga class. It has been a staple on our schedule since we opened in 2013. However, when we first started offering this practice, there were no Yin Yoga classes on the North Shore. Before teaching our Yin Yoga class, our teacher had only attended workshops in Boston as there were no available classes in our local area.
Despite this, we recognized the value of this unique practice and introduced it to our students on Tuesday nights under the name Mantra Retreat. We understand the importance of prioritizing your physical and mental health, so we have dedicated much effort to spreading awareness about the fantastic benefits of practicing Yin Yoga. It can truly transform your well-being and help you feel your best. As a result, our community has come to love and treasure the Tuesday night Yin class. Its tranquil and easily approachable style has resonated with numerous individuals, making it a popular class over the last ten years.
Over time, we are happy to see Yin Yoga has become more popular on the North Shore. However, not all of these classes are Yin Yoga. Some offerings are so gentle that they become more akin to Restorative Yoga, which lacks the distinct and transformation benefits of Yin.
Increased flexibility: Yin Yoga helps extend and lengthen connective tissues, leading to greater flexibility and range of motion.
Enhanced mental focus: Because Yin Yoga involves holding poses for an extended period, it can require greater mental focus and concentration than Restorative Yoga resulting in a deeper meditative experience.
Improved circulation: Yin Yoga helps stimulate circulation throughout the body, promoting the healing and nourishment of tissues and organs.
It's important to note that Yin Yoga is an advanced but very accessible physical and meditative practice that requires stillness, focus, and a willingness to embrace discomfort. It can benefit anyone, regardless of body type or fitness level, and is particularly helpful for those with a limited range of motion or lower back pain.
Our hearts are filled with joy as we continue to provide regular weekly Yin Yoga classes to the North Shore community and witness its growing popularity. To our amazing students attending our Tuesday night class for many years, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering commitment. Your presence and dedication inspire us to continue offering the best possible yoga experience.
If you still need to experience Yin Yoga with us, we invite you to join us both on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings to discover the benefits of this transformative practice for yourself.
